Why We Do This Work
I started Hoffman Empowerment Seminars because I’ve seen what happens when a student can’t read – and what’s possible when a teacher knows how to help.
As a dyslexia specialist, educator, and former homeschooling mom, I spent years teaching two of my own children without realizing they were struggling with dyslexia. At the time, I didn’t yet have the tools – Or the knowledge – to recognize the signs. That experience drives everything I do.
Over and over, I’ve heard teachers say:
“why didn’t anyone teach me this sooner?”
That’s why I created these workshops – to bridge the gap between what teachers are taught and what students need. Through immersive, hands-on seminars, we help educators understand what it feels like to struggle with reading – and give them the tools and confidence to respond with skill and compassion.
Whether you’re just beginning your journey into structured literacy or ready to deepen your practice, you belong here.
What Makes us different?
Most professional development gives you information. We give you transformation.
You won’t just leave with strategies – you’ll leave with a new lens.
You’ll see your students differently. You’ll see yourself differently.
And you’ll know exactly how to take the next step toward helping every child learn to read.
Meet Jennifer Lynn Hoffman

Jennifer Lynn Hoffman has spent more than two decades supporting struggling readers and the educators who teach them. A former classroom teacher and homeschooling parent, she brings personal insight and professional training to every seminar.
Her journey began more than twenty years ago, when two of her own children faced unexpected challenges with reading – and she realized she didn’t yet have the tools to help them. That moment changed everything. It sparked a commitment to learning how reading works, why some students struggle, and how to make instruction more effective for every learner.
Jennifer is trained through the Orton-Gillingham Academy at the Associate level and has worked extensively with students with dyslexia using structured, research-informed methods. She’s known for her ability to make complex topics approachable – and for helping teachers leave her workshops not just more informed, but more empowered.
Through Hoffman Empowerment Seminars, Jennifer is helping a growing number of educators across New York State build a strong foundation in reading instruction – grounded in research, informed by practice, and focused on what really works for struggling learners.
